And, as you know, the top income tax bracket in Long Island was increased from 8.97%<\/strong>\u00a0to 10.75%<\/strong> on income above $5 million.\u00a0 The state now taxes businesses at the second highest corporate tax rate in the country.<\/p>\n

By comparison,\u00a0Pennsylvania utilizes a \u201cflat tax\u201d system. This means that every taxpayer in the state, regardless of their level of income, pays the same percentage of their taxable income in state income taxes \u2014\u00a03.07%<\/b>. Among the eight states with a flat income tax, that is the lowest rate. Pennsylvania’s corporate income tax rate of 9.9% also compares favorably to Long Island’s.<\/p>\n
